INDIA. CAMPAIGN AGAINST DEATH PENALTY GAINS SUPPORT

the film actors Murali and K.B. Ganesh Kumar, MLA, were among those who had signed the human rights memorial mass memorandum against death penalty in India.
The memorandum was to be submitted to the State and Central Governments after the anti-capital punishment convention scheduled to be held at the VJT Hall in Thiruvananthapuram on May 1. A press release from the organising committee said that a State-wide signature campaign for the memorandum was under way. Among those who had signed in support of the campaign were the Kannur University Vice-Chancellor, P. Chandramohan, the Payyannur Municipality chairperson, S. Jyothi and the poet O.N.V. Kurup.
