INDIA. CAPITAL PUNISHMENT FOR CHILD ABUSE AND MURDER

R. Senthil, 27, accused of sexually exploiting two children, both brothers, and killing one of them, was sentenced to death by a District Principal and Sessions Court in India.
"The verdict gives me peace of mind," observed Judge Ramalingam.
According to the prosecution, Senthil of Chatrapatti near Rajapalayam took the brothers to an isolated place on the pretext of getting them something to eat in November 2003.
He then sexually assaulted the four-year-old younger brother, who died as a result of the attack. After dumping the body in a tank, the accused took the nine-year-old elder brother and had sex with him in captivity. On returning home after 10 days, Senthil was arrested by the Keelarajakularaman police.
"Even the death of the boy did not have any impact on the accused ... he continued to exploit his brother. Children are like God and this brutal incident is a crime against God," Ramalingam observed.
