According to the prosecution, thirteen members of the gang, “synonymous with terror in the Malwanchal region”, were guilty of robbery, loot, rape and murder. Of the thirteen, Padmnath, Guddunath and Dharmendranath were condemned to death, four others were sentenced to life imprisonment and the remaining six were acquitted for lack of evidence.
Public Prosecutor Sanjay Shinde said the accused had barged into the house of home guard Hemant Giri, killing him and his grandfather Narayan Giri before looting the house.
