INDIA. COURT AWARDS DEATH PENALTY TO LABOURER FOR MURDERING OLD COUPLE

a Sessions Court in Goa, India, sentenced to death Sarvanand Gaoncar after finding him guilty of murdering an elderly couple. According to the prosecution, the 35-year-old labourer stabbed to death Rayu Phaldesai, 70, and his wife Shantu, 65, in Vontim village on June 28, on suspicion that Phaldesai had developed illicit relations with his wife. He also stole a gold chain and a bracelet from the victims before fleeing from the scene.
