INDIA DEATH SENTENCE FOR CHILD RAPE

District Sessions Judge Renu Sharma awarded the death sentence to Dilip Bankar. The accused had taken a 10 year old girl for an outing and raped her before killing her Aug 21, 2005. Though Bankar's counsel had pleaded before the court that his client be given life imprisonment since he was mentally ill, government counsel H.L. Jha said he be hanged to death since he was a habitual criminal and had raped at least five minor girls in the past.
