INDIA: DEATH SENTENCE FOR MURDER OF FRIEND

Rabin Malick, 19, was sentenced to death by Partha Sarathi Mukherjee, the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of the Barrackpore First Track Third Court in India, for the murder of his friend Abhishek Mandal, 12, at Parganas in 2007. Tarit Dey, 14, and Bullet Das, 16, the other accused in the murder, were sent to Juvenile court. According to police, on September 23, 2007, Rabin, Tarit and Bullet kidnapped the victim from his home and stole his bicycle. They took him to an abandoned place and murdered him, selling his bicycle to buy drugs.
