the Bhagalpur Central Jail in India will be witnessing its first execution in 13 years. The jail authorities received the "black warrant" for Prajeet Kumar Singh's execution. As per law, execution takes place between the 21st and 28th day from the date of issuance of such a warrant. In this case, the warrant was issued by a Bettiah court on May 16. Prajeet, who hails from Indragachhi village in the East Champaran district, was awarded the capital punishment by a court in Bettiah. The Patna High Court and Supreme Court subsequently upheld the death sentence. Prajeet had killed three children of his co-tenant at Bettiah with the help of a knife on April 18, 1998.
