Principal Sessions judge V. Kamal Pasha sentenced Jayanandan, alias Jayan, 39, to death by hanging in the Perinjanam double murder case in India. Jayanandan of Mala robbed Perinjanam Kovilakam Kalapurackkal Sahadevan and his wife Nirmala of 11.25 sovereigns of gold and bludgeoned them to death on October 4, 2004. He was arrested by a special team investigating the Devaki murder case on November 23, 2006. Jayanandan allegedly attacked Devaki, 51, and her husband, Ramakrishnan, at Puthenvelikkara and robbed them of gold ornaments. On interrogation, he confessed to having committed seven murders and many burglaries, including the double murder at Perinjanam.
