four people were sentenced to death by a court in Lohardaga, India, for killing eight members of a family last year after a feud over land. District and Sessions Judge Goutam Kumar Choudhury pronounced the judgement against Mofil Khan, Mubark Khan, Wakil Khan and Sadam Khan, for hacking to death Haneef Khan, his wife and six children in 2007. The children were aged between six months and 15 years. Haneef was the brother of Mofil, who along with Mubark, Wakil and Sadam, carried out the crime following a land dispute in the family. The court found the four guilty on August 1 and pronounced the judgement today. Seven other accused, however, were acquitted for want of evidence.
