INDIA: GODHRA CONVICTS CHALLENGE COURT ORDER

the 11 convicts sentenced to death in the Godhra carnage case approached the Gujarat high court in India challenging the special court's order. The S-6 coach of Sabarmati Express was set on fire, killing 59 passengers on February 27, 2002. The lower court pronounced quantum of punishment to these persons on March 1. The court has also acquitted 63 persons out of 94, who were tried in this case.
