INDIA: HIGH COURT UPHOLDS DEATH SENTENCE FOR WOMAN'S MURDER

Justices Rao and Pinto of the Karnataka High Court in India upheld the March 28, 2009, death sentence of taxi driver Mohammad (then 27), a native of Birur in Chikmagalur district. He allegedly robbed and murdered passenger Vijayanti, a native of Bijapur, going from Kadur to Chikmagalur on June 18, 2007.
