Justice Arvind Kumar Sinha of the fast track court pronounced the death sentence against Home Guard Bahadur Yadav convicting him of torturing to death Shaligram Paswan. Three other Home Guards, Ram Vilas Mandal, Mehndi Paswan and Arvind Rai, were sentenced to life imprisonment for their involvement in the case.
Paswan had been arrested for creating a law and order problem at Lodipur village, Bhagalpur district, in 1996.
