District and Sessions Judge M.P. Singh held Manoj Kumar and Yogendra Singh of the Barun village guilty of killing the boy on December 30, 2005, and awarded capital punishment to them. Tej Pratap's body was recovered from a well near Barun village in Aurangabad district.
