Sheik Mastaan, alias Mohammed Salim, was sentenced to death by the Sharia court of Dammam in Saudi Arabia for allegedly transporting narcotic drugs. Salim, who went to Saudi Arabia in September 2003 for employment, was caught by officials at his friend's house in May 2006 during a drugs raid. Salim, 30, was working as a mechanic in Riyadh. In a memorandum to the Indian ambassador, Salim’s mother claimed that no drugs were seized from Salim's room or from his custody during the raid and he was mistakenly involved in the crime.
