INDONESIA. INDONESIA PREPARES TO EXECUTE THREE FOR POSO KILLINGS

it was reported that the Central Sulawesi Police in Indonesia had prepared four firing squads, comprising of 44 sharp shooters, to carry out the executions of three men convicted of a series of killings in Poso in 2000.
Three of the squads would execute the men, while the fourth would function as a back-up.
"The sharp shooters are well-trained members from the elite Mobile Brigade. They have been training every day for this," Central Sulawesi police chief Brig-Gen Oegroseno said. The police chief had yet to disclose the time and the place of the executions. Oegroseno said that according to regulations, the prosecutor's office must notify relatives of the convicts three days prior to their execution.
"I don't know if their relatives have been notified, but we've prepared the firing squads," said Oegroseno.
The provincial prosecutor's office had also appointed a chaplain to counsel the men, Fabianus Tibo, Marinus Riwu and Dominggus da Silva, as their executions approached.
The three had appealed to the Supreme Court on February 12, after finding new evidence in the form of witnesses testimonies stating they were not involved in the killings. Their lawyers had appealed to the Supreme Court justice to try the case. They claimed that the accused were not legally or convincingly proven to have committed the crimes they were convicted of. At least 2,000 people, both Muslim and Christian, were reportedly killed in sectarian riots in Poso in 2000.
