Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri expressed support for the execution of drug traffickers which had been sentenced to death. "The president supports the implementation of the death sentence (on drug traffickers)," chairman of the National Anti-Narcotics Body, Togar Sianipar, said following a meeting with the president. The courts had sentenced to death several people found guilty of drug trafficking in the country, but none of them have been executed, Togar said. The National Anti-Narcotics Body, Togar added, hopes the government would set a time limit for the implementation of the death sentence.
