October 7, 2026 - IRAN. Ahmad Bazvand executed in Khorramabad on October 7
Ahmad Bazvand, a 35-year-old Lor prisoner, was executed in Khorramabad Central Prison despite evidence raising doubts about his responsibility.
According to information received by Hengaw, Bazvand was executed at dawn on October 7, 2026. A resident of Bazvand village in Pol-e Dokhtar County, he was married and the father of a six-year-old daughter.
Bazvand was arrested approximately four years ago following a family dispute involving his cousins that escalated into an exchange of gunfire. He was accused of killing his uncle’s son-in-lawr.
Hengaw sources reported that crime scene evidence and forensic findings, including the trajectory of a bullet that struck the victim from behind, suggested that someone else was more likely to have fired the fatal shot. His defense lawyer also maintained that Bazvand was not responsible for the killing. Despite these findings, the court sentenced him to death under qisas (retribution in kind), reportedly disregarding the evidence and acting under pressure from the victim’s family.
Iranian state media have not announced his execution.
