October 11, 2026 - IRAN. Sajad Roustayi Hanged in Shiraz on October 11
According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, a man was hanged in Shiraz (Adel Abad) Central Prison on 11 October 2026. His identity has been established as Sajad Roustayi, a 51-year-old father of two from Torbat Heidarieh. He was arrested six years ago for murder.
A source told IHR: “Sajad had lived in the Zargari neighbourhood of Shiraz for 11 years, working as a residential security guard. Six years ago, two young men attempted to enter the building, but Sajad barred their way. Both men attacked him, prompting Sajad to defend himself with a stone from the courtyard. He struck one of the assailants on the head, fatally injuring him.”
The source added: "On 10 October 2026, Sajad and three other prisoners from wards 4 and 8 were moved to solitary confinement in preparation for their executions. Sajad and Esmail Khalili Baseri were executed. The remaining two prisoners, Younes Rezazadeh and Peyman Majidi, who had both spent between three and five years in prison on murder charges, secured extensions from the complainants, narrowly escaping the gallows for the time being and returning to their cells."
At the time of writing, Sajad’s execution has not been reported by domestic media in Iran.
