It was reported that Kola Mia, 25, was sentenced to death by a District Court in Bangladesh for killing a neighbour after she refused to marry him. Judge Mohammad Ismail Mia handed down the death penalty to Mia for the murder of Joytun Begum, 16, on September 9, 2000.
