It would be at least 4.880 people have been listed as missing since the 1992 start of a bloody Islamic rebel insurgency, which has claimed more than 100,000 lives. Interior Minister Noureddine Zerhouni dismissed accusations of security forces' involvement in the 4.880 disappearances. Human rights activists doubted Zerhouni's figures."More than 7,000 people have been victims of forceful disappearances by security forces," prominent lawyer and human rights activist Mahmoud Khelili said.
