Jail authorities in Pakistan hanged a double murderer in New Central Jail, Multan, for the klling of his son-in-law and grandson in 2000.
Bashir's daughter had secretly married Riaz Ahmed, and disappeared. However, Bashir managed to unearth them and shot dead Riaz, his son-in-law, and his grandson, identified as Muhammad Iqbal. He also chopped off the nose of his daughter for marrying a man of her own choice.
Bashir's death sentence was upheld by the High Court and Supreme Court of Pakistan.
His mercy petition was rejected by the President of Pakistan and Riaz's parents refused to forgive him and accept compensation.
