James Kopp, wanted in the United States for the murder of an abortion doctor, will not be extradited by France if U.S. courts seek the death penalty against him, a French public prosecutor said. Kopp, accused of shooting dead Barnett Slepian in New York state in 1998, was arrested by French police on March 29 in the western region of Brittany and is being held pending a formal U.S. extradition request.
