James Moreland, 39, white, was executed by lethal injection. Moreland had been convicted of killing Clinton Corbet, 53, white on 9th October 1982. Moreland had also been accused of committing a second, identical, murder. The prosecution decided not to proceed with the case after he had been sentenced to death for the first murder. He was the seventh person to be executed in the State during the year, No 206 since the State resumed executions in 1974. He was the 12th to be executed in the U.S. during the year and No 610 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
