John Joe Amador, 32, was executed for the Jan. 4, 1994, slaying and robbery of taxi driver Mohammad Reza Ayari. He was pronounced dead at 6:37 p.m.. Amador becomes the 23rd condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Texas, the 38th this year in the USA and the 1095th overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
