Jordan helped Lebanon to foil terrorist plots on October 13 and 14 against the British, US, Jordanian and other embassies in Beirut, officials in Jordan said.
An official said the group that had planned the attacks was Asbat al-Ansar, which is on a US list of terrorist groups linked to Osama bin Laden.
The Beirut paper Al-Nahar reported that two men suspected of belonging to Asbat al-Ansar had been charged with planning terrorist acts and arms trading and that if convicted, could be sentenced to death.
It said that one of them had admitted that he and dozens of other volunteers were trained to use various kinds of weapons in remote areas of northern Lebanon a few years ago. Their goal was to "hit US targets in the Middle East".
