the Jordan Times said the Arab Human Rights Organization (AHRO) in Jordan was waiting for a government response on claims a man was executed for murders he did not commit.
The daily quoted Hani Dahleh, head of the AHRO, as saying Mohammad Musa, the brother of Bilal Musa, had filed a complaint saying his brother was wrongfully executed. He had been executed in December 2002 after being convicted of murdering 11 people. Dahleh told the paper a court in May 2005 sentenced another man to death for killing one victim that Bilal Musa was convicted of killing. The daily also quoted Mohammad Musa as saying he was certain his brother was innocent of 10 of the 11 murders.
He said his brother had told him he "decided to confess to the murders because the authorities threatened to sexually assault his wife and my siblings if he did not confess. He told me the gallows was better than torture."
