the public prosecutor of Jordan's State Security Court demanded the death penalty for the suspected Iraqi female bomber Sajeda al-Rishawi and six other defendants over charges linked to the triple Amman hotel bombings on November 9.
'The Jordanian society looks forward to seeing your tribunal pass the death penalty on these defendants who deliberately killed innocent people at civilian installations with the aim of sparking sedition and spreading horror among citizens,' public prosecutor Brigadier Fawaz Otoum said.
The suicide bombings, which Jordan said were carried out by two Iraqi nationals, one of them al-Rishawi's husband, killed 60 people and wounded more than 90.
Al-Rishawi, 39, was the only defendant attending the trial, while seven others, including the slain al-Qaeda leader in Iraq Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, were being tried in absentia.
