Joseph, 30, and Masud alias Masum, 32, were sentenced to death by a Speedy Trial Court in Dhaka, Bangladesh, for the murder of a man at Lalmatia. The court also awarded life imprisonment to Kabil, Alish and Haris, who were sentenced in absentia. According to the prosecution, the convicts shot Mustafa, brother of former Awami League ward commissioner Habibur Rahman Mizan of Mohammadpur, as he was on his way home from Motijheel on May 7, 1996. Mustafa died later in hospital.
