Justice Majida Rizvi, chairperson of the National Commission on the Status of Women, requested the Governor of North West Frontier Province Lt. Gen. Syed Iftakhar Hussain to look personally into the stoning to death punishment passed on Zafran Bibi of Kohat so that justice could be done to her.
She requested the governor on behalf of the commission that Bibi be put into simple imprisonment till her death sentence is confirmed or otherwise and that she be allowed to meet her relatives as admissible under the rules.
Justice Rizvi also requested the governor to inquire into reports of mishandling in this case and punish those responsible according to law.
