Kasymzhomart Tokayev, the Kazakh foreign minister also said in an interview with journalists following a meeting with acting OSCE Chairman, Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs and [Portuguese Communities Antonio Martins da Cruz in [Kazakh capital] Astana that "a great deal has been done in the country in order to develop democracy" in the past years. "These are the setting up of the institution of ombudsman, reforms in the prison system and resolving the issue of cancelling capital punishment in the country," he noted.
