About 400 demonstrators descended on the Rift Valley town of Naivasha to demand justice and the death penalty for Thomas Cholmondeley, son of the fifth Baron Delamere and a great-grandson of Kenya's most prominent early British settler.
"Enough is Enough," "We will hunt Delamere," "Hang the murderers," and "It is only blacks being killed, where is the government?" read placards carried by protestors in Naivasha, about 90 kilometers (55 miles) northwest of Nairobi.
Cholmondeley and a friend were arrested on May 11 after the rancher told police he had shot 37-year-old suspected poacher Robert Njoya, who later died of his wounds.
Njoya was shot on Cholmondely's family ranch, also the site of the earlier killing just over a year ago when he shot a Kenya Wildlife Service warden.
He claimed self-defence, and prosecutors dropped charges.
