KUWAIT: DEATH PENALTY UPHELD IN FILIPINA’S WILFUL MURDER

the Kuwaiti Court of Appeals affirmed the death penalty on a Filipino charged with the premeditated killing of a woman compatriot over a year ago in a fit of jealousy rage. The court’s ruling effectively disregarded the “tanazul” obtained by the accused from the victim’s family in 2008 with the help and intercession of Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Ricardo M. Endaya. The court affirmed that Bienvenido Espino acted with premeditation in the killing on October 29, 2007, of Jhiyas B. Gumapac.
