Kyrgyzstan may abolish death penalty in 2006

Kyrgyzstan may abolish death penalty in 2006, head of the Kyrgyz Justice Ministry’s Main Department for the Execution of Penalties Vladimir Nosov said. 
A bill abolishing death penalty may be drafted in 2005, he said. There are 100 convicts sentenced to death penalty in Kyrgyzstan at present, but the execution of their sentences is suspended by a moratorium Kyrgyz President Askar Akayev has been extending for the last six years.
