Lee Kwai Heong, 38 and Lee Ah Seng, 25 were sentenced to death by the High Court after being found guilty of murdering a fisherman, Sanip Leham, 50. The judgment was handed down by judicial commissioner Syed Ahmad Helmy Syed Ahmad who found them guilty of committing the offence with two others who were still at large. The crime was committed at a disused mining pool on Oct 8, 1998. Syed Ahmad Helmy said the prosecution had proven beyond reasonable doubt that the duo were responsible for Sanip's death by striking his head with a wooden beam.
