Li Changjiang, a hired assassin, was executed after being convicted of the murder of the woman who hired him.
The Beijing First Intermediate People's Court heard that Li was hired by a Beijing woman in 2000 to kill or disfigure her husband's mistress, for which he would be paid 100,000 yuan (12,100 US dollars).
After Li and his accomplices Zhang Hongyu and Sun Yanhai, both friends of Li from his hometown in northeast China, failed to do their job, the hirer demanded her money back.
In September 2000, Li, Zhang and Sun killed the woman who hired them and burnt her car.
Li was executed, Sun was sentenced to life imprisonment, and Zhang was still at large.
