Lo Van Tuoi, a 39 year old man from Lai Chau province, Vietnam, was sentenced to death for trafficking heroin from Laos and China.
Tuoi was found guilty of involvement in a network that police said trafficked 4.5 kilograms of heroin into Vietnam from its two neighbours between 1996 and 1999.
Two other members of the ring were sentenced to death in March 2001. Police only apprehended Tuoi in March 2003 after a three-year manhunt.
This latest conviction brings the total number of people sentenced to death this year to 92, according to information compiled from state media.
