MALAWI: MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR KILLING BOY WITH ALBINIM

There has been a landmark court ruling in Malawi which has seen the first person sentenced to death for killing a teenager with albinism.
The ruling stands out as the attacks of people with albinism rage on in the country.
The court on 3 May 2019 has sent out a stern caution to perpetrators of the malpractices by sentencing to death 28 year old Willard Mikaele for murdering Mphatso Pensulo, 19.
The incident happened in 2017.
Mikaele, a business tycoon in the district was found guilty by th court earlier on.
It is said that he entinced the boy with biscuits and juices into his house where he eventually killed him.
A police statement had initially said that Mikaele hit the teenager with a sharp object and the boy’s screams alertied neighbors.
Mikaele went on the run before police netted him.
It is wrongly believed albino body parts when mixed with other fetish materials cause good luck and riches.
