Abdullah Lee’s death sentence for murdering an accountant in 2000 was upheld by the Malaysian Federal Court which unanimously dismissed Lee's appeal against the Appeal Court’s decision to send him to the gallows for killing 52-year-old Lee Good Yew.
On March 26, 2005, the Court of Appeal overturned Lee’s manslaughter conviction delivered by the High Court and instead found him guilty of murder. The High Court, on June 30, 2003, had awarded him eight years imprisonment.
In his written judgment, Justice Malanjum agreed with the Court of Appeal's conclusion that Lee was very much in control of his actions despite the alcohol he had consumed earlier.
