MALAYSIA. MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR TRAFFICKING CANNABIS

Osman Md Yatim, 63, was sentenced to death in Malaysia for trafficking 3,979g of cannabis. After the proceedings, the prosecution officer approached Osman and told him that he could make an appeal for a lighter sentence but the officer was taken back by the defendant’s reply: "It doesn't matter. I am not bothered as I am already old." Osman was charged under Section 39B (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for trafficking the cannabis on July 17, 2001.
