M. Kathavarayan, 54, was sentenced to death by the Malaysian High Court for trafficking 937.8g of cannabis. Kathavarayan, of Lunas, Kulim, was found guilty of committing the offence at Jalan Utama in Taman Sultan Abdul Halim on May 31 2000. He was charged under Section 39B(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act which carries the mandatory death sentence on conviction.
