Malek Hussein al-Ahmadieh received a Military Court death sentence for murdering his sister. Ahmadieh turned on the gas in his Sofar home in December 1999 to asphyxiate his sister Najwa after discovering she was pregnant out-of-wedlock. The court ruled the killing was murder, not an honour crime.
