MAN EXECUTED FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING IN EAST CHINA

a court in east China's Fujian Province executed a man for smuggling and trafficking about 51 kg of drugs. Huang Yihua, 26, was executed by the Intermediate People's Court of Putian City after the Supreme Court reviewed and approved the death penalty case.
Huang and his accomplice Huang Jintong, 52, were arrested in March, 2007 in Putian and Fuzhou cities. Police seized two kg of methamphetamine and about 49 kg of ephedrine. The men got the drugs in downtown Fuzhou and intended to sell them in Taiwan Province, according to court documents.
Huang Jintong and accomplice Yu Changli were sentenced to life in prison in February 2008 after their appeals were rejected by the provincial higher court.
