Mohamad Sofri Che Ani, was sentenced to death by the Malaysian High Court for trafficking in 3,632gm of cannabis

Mohamad Sofri Che Ani, was sentenced to death by the Malaysian High Court for trafficking in 3,632gm of cannabis. Justice Datuk Hasan Lah found Mohamad Sofri, 25, guilty of committing the offence in front of a food stall in the premises of a petrol station in Taman Bersatu at about on October 22, 2001.
Mohamad Sofri, who was employed by one a factory in Kulim, was charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 39B(2) of the same Act which carries the mandatory death sentence on conviction.
In his judgment, Hasan said the court was satisfied that the defence had failed to raise a reasonable doubt on the prosecution's case.
