Murderers and terrorists should be sentenced to death, according to an overwhelming majority of people who responded to the Sunday Mail law and order survey. And almost half believed that rape, child abuse and drug-trafficking should also carry the death penalty. Respondents to the survey also revealed dissatisfaction with the judicial system, with 77 per cent claiming it favoured criminals. Those in the over-50 age group (85.5 per cent) were particularly cynical about the judiciary. The greatest support came from those aged under 18 (28.8 per cent).
