the Delta state House of Assembly in Nigeria is considering the death penalty for kidnapping while armed with a weapon. The decision of the House in Asaba followed the presentation for second reading of the proposed law. Daniel Majuku said that kidnappers who operate with weapons should be sentenced to death under the new law, while others who operated without weapons will get life imprisonment. The bill was later referred to the House Committee on Peace and Security, and that of Legal and Judicial Matters for scrutiny.
