On April 14, Ahmad Asqarpour was stoned to death in public in northern Iran, in Babol, a town bordering the Caspian Sea. He had killed his 3 sons, aged between 7 and 12, because he thought they would stand in the way of his plans to divorce his wife and marry his mistress. He received 60 lashes before his execution, which began when the judge who sentenced him to death threw the first stone. The people who threw most stones were the murderer's wife and her brother, who threw them at his head in fury.
