On January 16, Military Court-4 sentenced Ali Nawaz Khoso of Shikarpur to death. He was one of 3 members of a gang of bandits who had raided a house in Kehkashan on August 23, 1998, killing 3 brothers, and seriously injured the fourth one. The other 2 members of the gang were identified as Nabi Bux and Khuddo. Ali Nawaz had pleaded not guilty. Meanwhile, Military Court-5 sentenced Shahzado Mangi from Sukkur to death on charges of murdering a security officer of the PC Hotel, in a robbery attempt by 3 men, 2 of whom had escaped. Shahzado, too, had pleaded not guilty.
