On May 11, Alex Gerengan Second Secretary of the Philippines embassy announced that a Kuwaiti court had sentenced Danilo Espino, a Filipino Christian citizen, to death on May 10 for killing his Muslim girlfriend Rocaya S. Bangon, a domestic help, in November 1998. Espino told the court he had entered Kuwait illegally from Saudi Arabia in 1994 to look for work. Espino confessed to killing Bangon in a fit of rage, for insulting him in front of his friends. He suspected she was unfaithful to him. "Our lawyer could appeal the decision or present a motion for consideration of the verdict in the same court," Gerengan said.
