On May 7, Zlatko Aleksovski was found guilty by the ICTY by virtue of both his individual and superior criminal responsibility on one count of a violation of the laws or customs of war, and sentenced to 2 years' and 6 months' imprisonment by Trial Chamber Ib. As Aleksovski was entitled to credit for time served for a period of 2 years, 10 months and 29 days, the Trial Chamber ordered his immediate release, notwithstanding any appeal. Both Counsel for Aleksovski and the Prosecution filed appeals against the judgment, and the Prosecution appealed against the sentence.
