On May 9, Samuel Kofi Woods the former Catholic Justice and Peace [CJP] director said the case of the 13 treason convicts is a test to national commitment to reconciliation and, recalling the execution of 13 former government officials in 1980, said history seems to repeat itself. He called on Liberians to end what he called the vicious cycle of violence. Pope John Paul II has honored Mr Woods with a medal in recognition of his service to humanity.
